Richard Theiss was appointed Vice President of Theiss Solutions in 1991, the year his son Shawn formed the company. His responsibilities include designing and building prototypes, as well as fulfilling various administrative tasks. Richard has been a huge supporter of Shawn’s passion for aviation. You can read about this experience in his 2012 book “Surprise, Surprise."

Richard is a graduate of Kent State University in Kent, OH.  He holds a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He has been a private pilot for over 48 years, an aircraft designer and builder for over 48 years, and has owned/managed a successful engineering firm.  He specializes in lightweight construction techniques, composite structures, and production methods.
